Tetris

It begins as a trickle.

A single piece falling gently into place.

Another,

forming a line, gone in an instant.

A taste of satisfaction.

You get closer.

The lines you build begin to blur.

You must concentrate.

Focus.

Harder.

You can feel the pressure building.

Your grip tightens on the controller.

The pieces are falling faster.

There is no stopping it now.

Before you realize it,

the screen, your mind, your body,

are entangled.

And suddenly,

the pieces are rushing,

spilling,

bursting,

out of the narrow channel.

Utterly full

Your heart pounds,

your breathing slows.

The screen stills.

Game over.

The controller still warm in your hands,

as an inviting glow tempts,

asking:

Do you want to play again?
